Common questions
My alarm didn't go off
- Open SwellMate's Alarms tab and allow alarms if it asks.
- Make sure Focus or Do Not Disturb isn't silencing SwellMate's reminders.
- Check the alarm is on and set for the right days in Alarms.
Until it's sorted, keep a backup alarm for anything that matters.
Are the tide times official?
No. SwellMate's tides are worked out from a sea level model, so they can be off by a bit. Use the Bureau of Meteorology's official tide times for anything that matters, like crossing a bar or reaching a spot cut off at high tide.
Why doesn't SwellMate show shark sightings?
No state publishes shark sightings in a form other apps can use, so SwellMate links you straight to SharkSmart WA, SharkSmart NSW and Beachsafe (Surf Life Saving) for your area.
Which map files can I import?
Georeferenced PDFs (GeoPDF), GeoTIFF images (.tif) and GPX files. Maps work offline once they're downloaded or imported.
How do I delete my data?
In the app, go to Me › Privacy & data › Delete all my data, or delete the app. SwellMate has no accounts, so nothing about you is stored with us.
How do I get a copy of my data or correct it?
Everything is on your phone, and you can see and change it in the app. Questions: getswingmateapp@gmail.com.
Is it free?
Yes. SwellMate is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases.
