SwingMate

Privacy Policy

Effective 2 October 2026. This is the same policy shown in the app under Me › Legal.

The short version: SwingMate runs on your phone, with no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Without an account, your data stays on this device and only leaves it when you use Ask SwingMate, the AI assistant. An account is optional: if you sign in, your data syncs between your devices end-to-end encrypted, so we can't read it. Only what you choose to share with friends, or put in your calendar link, is stored readable. SwingMate never connects to your bank.

1. Who we are

SwingMate is provided by Luke Uglow trading as SwingMate (ABN 86 215 349 900), Western Australia. You can contact us about privacy at getswingmateapp@gmail.com.

2. What's stored on your device

This is kept in SwingMate's private storage on your phone. It may be included in your device or iCloud backups, depending on your own settings. We can't see it.

3. What leaves your device

Only when you use Ask SwingMate and have agreed to it, SwingMate sends:

Your name isn't sent. Nor are your contacts, location, photos or anything else on your phone.

It goes over an encrypted connection to SwingMate's server, hosted by Supabase in Sydney, which passes it to Anthropic, whose Claude model writes the reply. Our server doesn't keep your messages; it only keeps a daily count of messages per app ID, deleted after 30 days. Anthropic processes the data to answer you and, under its own terms, may keep it for a limited time for security and abuse monitoring. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.

4. Optional account

You can use SwingMate without an account. If you choose Sign in with Apple:

Sign out any time in Me → Account. Delete your account there too: it permanently deletes your synced copy, your friends list, what you share and your calendar link from our server. Your data on the phone stays until you delete it.

5. Money

SwingMate doesn't connect to your bank. There's no bank linking, open banking or third-party financial data service, and SwingMate never asks for or stores bank logins, passwords or account numbers. Everything on the Money tab is entered by you and stays on your device. It isn't sent to Ask SwingMate or shared with friends. If you sign in, it's included in your end-to-end encrypted sync, so only your devices can read it. SwingMate can't move money or make payments. Delete it any time from Money or with Delete all my data.

6. Work contacts

If you allow access, SwingMate reads your phone's contacts to show your work contacts, based on the list, company or people you choose. Contacts are read on your phone only. They're never uploaded, never sent to Ask SwingMate and never stored by SwingMate, apart from your chosen settings. Opening a contact shows your phone's own contact card. You can turn off access at any time in iOS Settings.

7. Maps and location

GPX files you import are read on your phone and stored only in SwingMate's private storage. Offline map areas are downloaded from Geoscience Australia's public map service; the request only reveals the map tiles being fetched, like any map app. Place search sends what you type to Apple Maps. If you allow location, SwingMate uses it to show your blue dot and distances on the map and, only when you tap Use my location, to set your time zone. For the time zone, your position is checked once and may be sent to Apple's location service to look up the time zone for that spot; only the time zone you end up with is saved. Your location is never stored, uploaded to us or sent to Ask SwingMate. You can turn off location for SwingMate at any time in iOS Settings.

8. Calendars on your phone

If you turn on Apple Calendar sync, SwingMate asks for access to your phone's calendars. It adds your SwingMate events (and your swings, if you choose) to the calendar you pick, keeps them up to date both ways, and shows events from your other calendars in SwingMate. This all happens on your phone. Events from your other calendars are never stored by SwingMate, uploaded to us, shared with friends or sent to Ask SwingMate. Turning sync off removes SwingMate's copies from your calendar. If your calendar is an iCloud, Google or Outlook calendar, that provider syncs it under its own terms.

9. Reminders

Reminders are local notifications. Your phone schedules them itself, with no push server involved. You can turn them off in Me or in iOS Settings.

10. Cookies and tracking

SwingMate is a native app, not a website. It doesn't use cookies, advertising identifiers, analytics or tracking tools, and it doesn't track you across other apps or websites. That's why it doesn't show a cookie banner.

11. Children

SwingMate is made for working adults and isn't directed at children. You need to be 16 or older to use it. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think a child has used Ask SwingMate, contact us and we'll help.

12. Your choices and rights

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. The full policy is also published at getswingmate.com.au/privacy.

If you're in Australia and unhappy with how we handle a complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au). If you're in the EU or UK, you have rights of access, correction, deletion, objection and complaint to your local regulator.

13. Where data is processed

Without an account, your data stays on your phone. Account data (your encrypted sync copy, friends, what you share and your calendar link) is stored with Supabase in Sydney, Australia. Ask SwingMate requests may be processed in the United States and other countries where our AI providers operate.

14. Security

Everything sent to our server is encrypted in transit. Synced data is also end-to-end encrypted (AES-256) with a key that never leaves your devices. Shared calendars and calendar links are protected by access rules and random links. On-device data is protected by iOS app sandboxing and, when your phone is locked, by iOS data protection.

15. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, SwingMate will show you the update and ask you to agree before you keep using the app.
